How we use your data

When you use the tool

When you check a school or plan your list, you enter a postcode and some details about an application. Here's exactly what happens to that information:

• Your postcode is sent to a free UK government service (postcodes.io) to place a pin on the map. We don't store your postcode.
• If you drag the pin to your front door, that location is used only to calculate your distance to the school. We don't store it.
• Nothing you enter on the Check a School or Plan My List pages is saved anywhere.

In other words: use the tool, close the tab, nothing remains.

The waiting list tracker

The waiting list data shown on this site is sourced from the Wandsworth Council waiting list portal and contributed by families. It contains only school names, category names, positions and dates. No personal data. No addresses. No names.

On the public waiting list map, each data point is displayed as a concentric circle centred on the school. The circle's radius shows the distance from school to the location you provided, allowing the community to see how far out the waiting list is reaching. Your actual postcode and exact coordinates are never publicly visible — only the circle is shown.

Contributing your waiting list position

Families can contribute their own waiting list positions to help build a richer picture for everyone. When you submit a position:

• We ask for your email address to create an account
• You drop a pin on a map to show your home location — we store your exact coordinates
• We store your waiting list position, the date, and the school
• That's it — no name, no address, no information about your child

Your privacy on the public map: Your exact location is completely anonymised on the public waiting list map. The only visible data point is a concentric circle showing your distance from the school. Your postcode and coordinates remain private to you — they are never published or shared with anyone.

You can edit or delete your submissions at any time from your account. And you can - if you prefer - submit waiting list positions entirely anonymously. It's up to you.

What we never collect

• Your name
• Your child's name
• Your child's school reference number
• Your exact home address
• Any financial information

Who sees your data

Nobody. We don't share data with third parties, advertisers or anyone else. The only exception is the technical services that run this website (Vercel for hosting, Neon for the database) — both are bound by strict data processing agreements.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to see what data we hold about you, correct it, and delete it. Email us at hello@incatchment.com and we'll respond within 5 working days.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you have the right to complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk.
